In The Deadhead's Taping Compendium, Volume III, 2 or 3 pages discribe the Miami 10/26/89 Darkstar and how it freaked out many at the venue that evening, a very powerful, weird & scary Darkstar, it's rated in the alltime top 5 at www.deadlists.com > Darkstar document.
It's here to stream and probably can be torrented somewhere

If any of you'z is going to have a haunted house this halloween, it's a good soundtrack to play!

RFK 7/12/90 A monster. It was included on the third(?) View From the Vault release as filler. I'd rather they'd released that show.

As for the '72>'74 period? Just too many for me to single 'em out. I have a few favourite Dark Stars from that era but haven't played them a lot lately so I can't remember wherther they're scary or not. And I guess there's a certain amount of subjectivity too.

I had a Dark Star party every year for four years before I moved West where we'd play Dark Stars and whatever they went into until the band stopped playing.

If you want to have some Dark Star fun these are all phat goodies

10/09/89 Hampton breakout
3/29/90 (with Marsalis--check out the jam after first verse into Drums)
2/15/73 Dane County Coliseum
6/10/73 RFK
4/14/72 Tivoli Conert Hall, Denmark
9/20/90 holy moley!
12/31/89 (An unsettling Dark Star in a less than stellar show---they blew it out the night before--maybe, because it's one of the more lame New Year's Eve shows, they're trying to play their way out. Definitely worth at least one listen)

Lots more but that's a start.
